Frecher Tottenham-Fan «hackt» YB-Wikipedia-Seite!

Kaum ist die Champions-League-Auslosung über die Bühne, hat ein frecher Fan der Tottenham Hotspur die YB-Seite auf Wikipedia «gehackt».

Ein frecher Wikipedia-User, wohl ein Hotspur-Fan, erlaubte sich kurz nach der Auslosung der Playoff-Partien für die Champions-League-Gruppenphase einen Scherz. Er «hackte» sich in die YB-Seite auf Wikipedia.

Der «Hacker» hat zum Beschrieb des Klubs nur einen Satz hinzugefügt. Aber der hat es in sich. Die Berner Young Boys werden als notorische Verlierer beschrieben, und es wird prophezeit, dass sie gegen Playoff-Gegner Tottenham ziemlich sicher verlieren werden.

Welch Respektlosigkeit! Der Eintrag ist inzwischen wieder von der Seite entfernt worden.

Trainer Redknapp zeigt mehr Respekt

Mehr Respekt zeigt Harry Redknapp. Der Tottenham-Trainer betont auf der offiziellen Klub-Homepage, dass gegenüber YB höchster Respekt entgegen gebracht werden wird.

«Wir haben das Hinspiel gegen Fenerbahçe auf DVD gesehen, und sie hätten vier oder fünf Tore schiessen können», so Redknapp. «Und dann sind sie in die Türkei gereist und gewonnen. Ein fantastisches Resultat!»

Respekt hat der 63-Jährige auch vor dem Berner Kunstrasen im Stade de Suisse: «Die spielen sehr gut auf dieser Unterlage. Deshalb werden es zwei schwierige Spiele für uns.»

YB-Gegner Tottenham ist 360 Millionen Franken wert

Die Spieler des Premier-League-Vierten würden auf dem Transfermarkt rund 130 Millionen Franken mehr einbringen als die gesamte Super League.

Schon der Blick auf die Stürmer der Spurs zeigt, mit was für einem Kaliber es die Young Boys im Champions-League-Playoff zu tun bekommen. Neben den beiden englischen Internationalen Jermaine Defoe und Peter Crouch stehen Trainer Harry Redknapp mit dem Russen Roman Pawljutschenko, dem Iren Robbie Keane und Mexikos WM-Entdeckung Giovani dos Santos noch drei weitere Nationalspieler zur Verfügung.

Im Mittelfeld zieht Luka Modric die Fäden – er begeisterte an der Euro 08 mit seinen Dribblings die kroatischen Fans. Das Juwel in der Abwehr heisst Gareth Bale. Der flinke Waliser schaltet sich gerne in die Angriffe ein und hatte mit seinen Dribblings grossen Anteil an den Erfolgen in der abgelaufenen Saison. Trotz eines heftigen Flirts mit Manchester United blieb er seinem Klub im Sommer treu.

Geld alleine gewinnt keine Spiele

Laut transfermarkt.ch sind die Tottenham-Stars zusammen 360 Millionen Franken wert. Die versammelten Profis der Schweizer Super League würden laut der gleichen Quelle nur 232,272 Millionen Franken einbringen, die Young Boys alleine vergleichsweise kümmerliche 34 Millionen. Dass Geld alleine keine Spiele gewinnt, musste aber schon Fenerbahçe Istanbul erfahren. Trotz eines 190 Millionen Franken teuren Kaders bissen sich die Türken an YB die Zähne aus.

Wie Fenerbahçe steigt auch Tottenham am 17./18. August praktisch ohne Wettkampfpraxis in den Ring. Die Saison in England beginnt erst unmittelbar vor dem Hinspiel im Berner Stade de Suisse. Die Spurs empfangen am 14. August Manchester City. Gegen eine Schweizer Mannschaft spielte Tottenham bislang erst einmal. Im Uefa-Cup setzten sie sich 1973/74 gegen die Grasshoppers mit dem Gesamtskore von 9:1 durch.

«Tottenham gibt immer Vollgas»

YB-Torhüter Marco Wölfli hielt in der Schlussphase in Istanbul den Sieg fest. Seine Glanzparade bedeute im Spiel gegen Fenerbahce die Qualifikation für die Playoffs.

Die Berner zogen mit den Tottenham Hotspurs schon wieder ein Hammerlos. «Der englische Fussball hat mich schon immer fasziniert», sagt Wölfli gegenüber Tagesanzeiger.ch/Newsnetz. Das sei Powerfussball vom Allerfeinsten. Der englische Fussball sei ehrlich, körperbetont, ultraschnell und technisch auf höchstem Niveau. Die Premier League sei die stärkste Liga der Welt.

Wölfli erwartet gegen Tottenham zwei völlig andere Spiele als gegen Fenerbahce. «Das sind zwei grundverschiedene Fussballphilosophien», sagt er. «Zudem haben uns die Türken im Unterbewusstsein wohl unterschätzt», vermutet der Nationaltorhüter. Die Engländer seien gewarnt. «Sie würden uns aber auch so nicht unterschätzen, das ist nicht die Mentalität von englischen Teams», warnt Wölfli. «Tottenham gibt immer Vollgas» prophezeit er.

YB-Sieg bringt Petkovic aus der Schusslinie

Vor dem Spiel in Istanbul stand besonders Trainer Vladimir Petkovic im Kreuzfeuer der Kritik. «Wir hatten keinen guten Saisonstart», sagt Wölfli. Doch man habe sich durch die negative Berichterstattung in den Medien nie destabilisieren lassen. «Die Mannschaft ist absolut intakt und der Trainer macht einen hervorragenden Job», sagt der Captain. Am Sonntag müsse man die Leistung von Istanbul im Auswärtsspiel bei den Grasshoppers allerdings bestätigen.

Spurs hunting for Young Boys

TOTTENHAM'S Champions League adventure will start with a qualifying tie against Swiss side Young Boys.
Harry Redknapp's team fly to Berne for the first leg on August 17 or 18 with the return game scheduled for the following week.

Young Boys finished runners-up in the Swiss League last term and have registered two draws and a defeat since kicking off their current season on July 17.

Tottenham's club secretary Darren Eales tried to play down Spurs' delight at avoiding the likes of Sampdoria, Dynamo Kiev, Auxerre and Braga, who knocked out Celtic.

Eales said: "I don't think there was a perfect draw.

"All five teams that have got through are obviously quality sides."

Talking about Young Boys, Eales added: "We saw them play against Fenerbahce [in the last round]. That was a great result for them to win 1-0 in Turkey.

"So we know it's going to be a tough game but we're excited about it and looking forward to hopefully getting into the Champions League group stages.

"I just joined the club on July 1 and you can imagine the excitement and the buzz around the place.

"We've got a real chance to get into the group stages, a chance for our fans to experience football, perhaps against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, or Barcelona or the Milans.

"We're keeping our feet on the ground but, obviously, we're really hoping that we can get through."

Young Boys sporting director Alain Baumann said: "We are happy to play Tottenham. For Young Boys, it's a good draw but the hardest.

"For the spectacle, it's the best.

"We beat Fenerbahce but I think Tottenham are more difficult for us. We hope to have a little chance and this chance we will need to take.

"Tottenham is a name in the world like Liverpool or Chelsea, so for us it's big, big game."

Stadium: The Stade de Suisse is the new home of Young Boys. The state of the art complex was completed in 2005 on the site of the Wankdorf Stadium, the clubs previous home. The Suisse is the worlds greenest Stadium, powered entirely by solar panels on its roof.

Star player:

Marco Wolfli: Young Boys consistent stopper has a fearsome reputation in Switzerland, with an impressive record last term. The Swiss international is club captain and their longest standing player.

Honours: Young Boys have won 11 Swiss league titles, and six Swiss Cups. Their recent history is less impressive, failing to win a domestic title for 24 years.

European credentials: Young Boys reached the semi-finals of the European Cup in 1958-59, their best finish to date. They have never reached the Champions League proper, although they beat Turkish giants Fenerbahce in the previous qualifying round.

Last season: BSC Young Boys finished second in the Swiss Super League, four points behind FC Basle.

Tottenham’s Champions League opponents Young Boys: six things you didn’t know

Tottenham have been drawn against Swiss side Young Boys of Bern in the fourth qualifying round of the Champions League. On paper, the easiest draw Spurs could have been handed, but who are their European opponents?

Young Boys have in their ranks a Tottenham-supporting Englishman in the form of Enfield-born Scott Sutter. Sutter, who has a Swiss father, turned down an offer from Charlton when he was 16 to move to Switzerland, flirting with the idea of trying to make the Swiss national team before dismissing the idea.

“It hit me when I was in a bar supporting England with all my mates, wearing my England shirt and I knew that the next week I was going to be turning out for Switzerland,” he said. “It just didn’t feel right. I was English”.

Young Boys’ stadium is located in the Wankdorf area of Bern, prompting plenty of end-of-the-pier sniggering every time the Wankdorf Stadium, as it was previously known, was mentioned. Since a 2005 renovation, however, the official named has been Stade de Suisse, frustrating tabloid sub-editors no end.

Young Boys have won 11 Swiss league titles, the most recent in 1986, six domestic cups, and reached the semi-finals of the 1959 European Cup. They finished second behind Basel last season.

Young Boys’ most penetrative attacker and star player is Cameroonian striker Henri Bienvenu, a callow 22 year-old but exciting target man with power and pace to worry Tottenham’s defence. Bienvenu plays as the frontman of an expansive 3-4-3 formation.

Young Boys are managed by 46-year-old Bosnian coach Vladimir Petković, who, after an unremarkable playing career, has enjoyed success in Switzerland as manager of then second division side Bellinzona, whom he guided to promotion and a place in the Swiss cup final, earning him a move to the Berne side in 2008.

Young Boys wear black and yellow hooped shirts. Their away kit, however, bears an uncanny resemblance to Tottenham's new jersey for 2010/11.

Tottenham's Champions League hopes boosted by Young Boys of Bern draw

• Harry Redknapp: Tottenham should be wary of Swiss side

Tottenham Hotspur's hopes of reaching the group stages of the Champions League were given a huge lift today when they were drawn against Young Boys of Bern in the play-off round. Although the Swiss Super League runners-up knocked out Fenerbahce in the previous round, Harry Redknapp will be relieved to have avoided Dynamo Kyiv, Braga, Sampdoria and Auxerre, all of whom were potential opponents, and would have carried a much greater threat.

Young Boys have started their domestic season but have failed to win any of their opening three matches and their disappointment at being paired with Spurs, who last appeared in Europe's premier club competition in the 1961-62 season, was acute. Alain Baumann, the club's sporting director, described the draw as "the worst that we could have" and conceded that their chances of going through were "very, very little".

Spurs will face Young Boys at the Stade de Suisse on 17 or 18 August, with the second leg at White Hart Lane the following Tuesday or Wednesday. "We'll be favourites, obviously, but we have to give Young Boys the utmost respect," Redknapp, the Spurs manager, said. "They beat Fenerbahce in the last round and we watched the first leg on DVD. They could have won four or five – they hammered them at home. They then went away and won in Turkey and that's a fantastic result. They also have an astroturf pitch at their stadium and they play well on it, so it will be a tough game for us."

One person in Bern who was delighted with the draw is Scott Sutter, the 24-year-old Young Boys right-back who was born in Enfield and grew up supporting Spurs. Sutter left England for his father's native Switzerland at the age of 16 and has not returned since. "To be drawn against the team I grew up supporting is a special, special feeling for me," Sutter said. "Hopefully I'll stay injury-free beforehand so I can play in the stadium where I once was as a supporter."
